Tops of 2011

Now that it’s officially over, this is what made 2011 pretty fucking rad

  1. Occupy/Arab Spring - I’d rather the youth stand for (just about) anything then stand for nothing. The defining moments of 2011.
  2. Pitchfork Music Festival - Chalk it up with whatever anti-hipster rhetoric can think of. All my favorite bands, no corporate sponsorship, great food. Also, Chicago in the summer makes the world go round.
  3. Zuma Beach, Malibu/Stone Brewery, Escondito/Santa Monica/Santa Barbara - That Cali trip changed me in a lot of ways. Also, the first time I walked onto Zuma, it felt like a glass of milk after a PB&J.
  4. What it feels like at about 8:00 PM in Austin, Texas. Hard to explain, but people just come outside. They’re just so happy it’s not hot anymore. New friends are made and I get hightop fades from strangers.
  5. A cocktail and a burger from Longman and Eagle, in Logan Square Chicago. Those bartenders are downright alchemists.
  6. Big Boi at the Ogden - I’ve never had so much fun at a concert.
  7. Hiking 3 different 14ers in one day. Dunno if I’ll never do it again, but I’m so thankful I can say I did.
  8. Kickball in the summer - Makes you feel like you’re 9 again.
  9. The MoMA - Just because.
  10. Palo Alto - Makes you feel like the dumbest person in city limits, and that’s ok.
  11. Pretty much anything by The Weeknd
  12. Also, these songs (must have spotify).
